This weekend Murray County experienced its fair share of thunder; the thunder didn’t start with Sunday’s storm though. On Saturday July 9th, 2016, twelve six horse hitches and twelve draft teams, from all over the country, came thundering into the arena at the Murray CountyFairgrounds. This year marked the tenth year for the Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show and it was once again a huge success. A year’s worth of preparation from the drivers, their crew and the show’s committee finally payed off in a fantastic display of power and elegance; a true spectacular unlike any other.
The Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show is a special event. Showing draft horses is an uncommon activity – not everybody has their own hitch of the gentle giants. This is largely due to the fact that horses became a novelty after the advent of the automobile.
