Vernon Pfingsten was born on May 14, 1925 on the family farm near Fulda, Minnesota to Martin and Lottie Meyer Pfingsten.  He grew up on the farm and attended country school.  Vernon met Violet Basche in July of 1943 and they were married on September 22, 1946 at the Pfingsten Lutheran Church in rural Fulda.  Following their marriage they farmed south of Fulda and later near Reading, MN. Vernon retired at the age of 68 and in 2007 they moved to Fulda. In 2012 Vernon became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda.  Vernon passed away there peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the age of 91.  Vernon was a life–long member of the Immanuel America Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council, belonged to Couples Club and sang in the church choir.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dancing.  His greatest love was spending time with his family.

  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 69 years and the love of his life Violet.  His eight children and their spouses, Judy Pfingsten of Burnsville, MN, Randy and Pat Pfingsten of Duluth, MN, Connie and Bill Gardner of Rochester, MN, Debra and Jerry Obermoller of Mooresville, NC. Kevin and Rakeeta Pfingsten of Fairmont, MN, Steve and Johnette Pfingsten of Danville, CA, Shelley and Brian Standafer of Worthington, MN, Todd and Kara Pfingsten of Mankato, MN; 20 grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Thomas, Troy (Amy) Pfingsten, Holly (David) Ierino, Alexis Pfingsten, John Gardner, Sarah Gardner, Bethany Obermoller, Andrew Obermoller, Matthew (Betsy) Pfingsten, Myles Pfingsten, Mitchell Pfingsten, Grant Pfingsten, Samantha Pfingsten, Craig Pfingsten, Tonisha (Joshua) Miller, Keeli (Joshua) Iten, Lexi Standafer, Charlotte Pfingsten, Thomas Pfingsten and Samuel Pfingsten;  11 great-grandchildren.  Derek Ierino, Christian Ierino-Summers, Ella Ierino, Matthew Ierino, Breanna Thomas, Jenna Thomas, Caleb Pfingsten, Jaxton Standafer, Taezyn Larson, Blayke Miller, and Raya Miller; one brother Norm Pfingsten and his wife Paula of Georgetown, TX.  He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Dustin Obermoller and two brothers, Merwin and Loren Pfingsten.

Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel American Lutheran Church in rural Fulda, MN on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Rachel Wrenn officiating.  The organist is Roxanne Kremer.  The pallbearers are his grandchildren.  The honorary pallbearers are his great-grandchildren.  Interment is at Immanuel American Lutheran Cemetery in rural Fulda, MN.
