It’s been a busy week for the Fulda/MCC Warriors wrestling club 3 duals on Thursday, January 23, and a tournament in Parkston South Dakota on Saturday. Thursday the Quadrangular tournament consisted of duals against Tracy Milroy Balaton, Luverne (55-30), and Madelia(66-6), of which the Warriors took two of the three duals. If you were fortunate enough to be in Slayton to take advantage of this wonderful evening and took part in the roast beef sandwich fundraiser then you seen a great showing put on by the Warriors.
The practice gym at MCC was loaded with parents, youth wrestlers, and fans and we saw some exciting wrestling.
One particular match that stuck out the most which raised the roof of the new gymnasium was a JV match of which Carson Klein went up against a TMB wrestler the match was tied 3-3 and went into overtime as Carson drove in and scored a takedown to win the match. The cheers were deafening and you could fell the reverberation in the gym. Although this match took place for JV it shows just how committed the fans can be when it comes to wrestling. Carson is one of those wrestlers who doesn’t give up he shows a lot of grit and determination and wrestles all six minutes and then some.
An upset of sorts came when Keigan Behnke went up against Trevor Eisfeld of TMB. At the whistle, Eisfeld tied up Keigan for a throw and Keigan held on and threw in a double and a half and put Eisfeld on his back. This was the first time I have ever seen Eisfeld on his back this season, although it didn’t last, the glory was still Keigans because he went up against a Goliath and made the first stone strike home.
