Feel the Thunder…Experience horsepower like it was intended. Featuring the workhorses of yesteryear, the Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show offers the beauty, grandeur and sheer force of today’s draft horses.
The 2018 Murray County Draft Horse Show, July 13,14, and 15th, featuring the cart, team, unicorn, 4-horse and 6-horse hitch classes. The draft horse competition will be held at the Murray County Fairgrounds located in Slayton, Minnesota. You do not want to miss the fun!
Over the 12 years Jeff Kiewatt as served as ringman for each of the events. The voice of the show is Keith Tongen – who also has been a part of the show since inception.
A number of improvements have been made over the years including the commissioners approval to completely re-do the historic round barn. New box stalls were added to the ones put in by the county and the old wash station tore out and replaced with one that takes on the look of cabal stone dating it back to the 1930s era. The group has also put in several additional stalls for the exhibitors. The Murray County Draft Horse group were all key members in helping renovate the annex barn as well as the sheep barn. In fact the group is hoping to add additional stalling next year. “We never seem to have enough stalls,” commented Biren.
