1944 – Terry Lee Krohn – 2017
Terry Krohn was born on January 10, 1944 on the family farm near Fulda, Minnesota to Billy and Yavonne Cohrs Krohn. In 1950 the family moved to a farm near Slayton, Minnesota where Terry graduated from Slayton High School in 1962. Terry was a member of the Minnesota National Guard and graduated from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1964. Following graduation Terry worked with his father Billy in the family tiling business. On June 29, 1968 he and Virginia “Ginny” Schwartz Christensen were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton. In the late 1970’s Terry bought the family tiling and construction business. While running the construction business Terry also owned and operated Murrayland Motors. In 2010 Terry retired from the construction business but continued running Murrayland Motors. Due to failing health Terry moved to the Pipestone Hospice Home in Pipestone, Minnesota in March 2017. On Monday, July 3, 2017 Terry went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 73. He was a member of the Slayton Presbyterian Church. Terry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, buying and selling cars, flying his airplane and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife Ginny Krohn, Slayton, MN, four children and their spouses: Lisa and Steve Engen, Kearney, NE, Tom Christensen, Chicago, IL, Brian and Angie Krohn, Farmington, MN, and Brent and Maribel Krohn, San Diego, CA; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six siblings and their spouses: Nancy Jurrens, Pipestone, MN, Pierce and Irene Krohn, Farmington, MN, Noreen Rupp, Sioux Falls, SD, Deb Rupp, Marshall, MN, Scott and Ellen Krohn, Chaska, MN, and Jason and Jennifer Krohn, Slayton, MN and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece Natalie Krohn.
Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Dave Hollis officiating. The organist was LaDean Lang with special music by Sue Muck. The pallbearers were Jason Krohn, Pierce Krohn, Doug Rupp, Craig Johansen, David Swenson, and Dick Engelkes. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
