A gift of a white goat to Fulda High School, given recently by alumna Elizabeth (Gehl) Knaack, Class of 1967, has prompted sharing a bit of the history of The Goat, a trophy used between Fulda and Slayton basketball teams to indicate which was triumphant in their games.
On Saturday, August 12th, the Fulda High School Class of 1967 held their 50th year class reunion at Fulda Legion/Community Hall.
“As part of our reunion day schedule we toured the high school,” alumna Elizabeth (Gehl) Knaack stated. “We got to walk through and reminisce and we got to know each other better again 50 years after graduation. Everything in the school looks the same, but a portion has been added on out to the north. It brought back memories of some fun times.”
The reunion attendees were also invited to tour the Fulda Depot and the Fulda Heritage Society’s new building that holds many of the historic collections that are from Fulda’s history. “It was delightful to see the Depot and hear some information about how it is being renovated. As we walked through the new building, there were many comments like ‘I remember this!’ and ‘This looks just like what my grandpa had,’” Knaack said.
