Sharon Stoppel – Obituary

1938 – Sharon Lee Stoppel – 2017

  Sharon Stoppel was born on May 29, 1938 on the family farm near Tracy, Minnesota to Harold and Iris Brandt Schoer. She grew up on the family farm and attended Tracy High School. On January 5, 1957 She and Robert “Bob” Stoppel were married at Hoiland Lutheran Church in rural Tracy, Minnesota. Following their marriage they made their home in Garvin, Minnesota until 1960 when they moved to Kansas City, Missouri for one year, before moving to Glenwood, Iowa where Sharon worked as a CNA. They later moved to Spring, Texas where they remained until 1999 when they moved to Currie, Minnesota. Bob passed away on April 3, 2010. Following Bob’s death Sharon moved to Westside Apartment in Slayton, Minnesota and in 2013 she became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton where she passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the age of 78. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, gardening, and baking.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives: Greg and Nicole Stoppel, Mineola, IA and Todd and Susan Stoppel, Slayton, MN; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four siblings and their spouses: Gary and Ella Schoer, Currie, MN, Lynette and Cliff Deslauriers, Currie, MN, Janice and Ralph Perscher, Williams, OR and Lyle and Linda Schoer, Hartford, SD; one sister-in-law Cheryl Schoer, Hartford, SD and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Stoppel and two brothers: Larry and Dennis Schoer.

Funeral services were held at Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating. The pallbearers were her grandchildren. Interment is at Hoiland Lutheran Cemetery rural Tracy, MN. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
