1931 – Sharlotte “Shar” Grieme – 2017

  Shar Grieme was born on April 3, 1931 on the family farm near Minneota, Minnesota to Harvey and Myrtle Knutson Heggen. She grew up on the family farm near Minneota, Minnesota and graduated from Minneota High School in 1949. Shar then attended St. Cloud State University and graduated with her Teaching Degree. Following graduation Shar taught second grade in Slayton, Minnesota. On August 14, 1953 she and Orville Grieme were married at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton where Shar continued teaching second grade. She later joined Orville working at his accounting office for several years. Shar passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 85. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton where she was active in study club, ladies aid and sang in the church choir. Shar enjoyed spending time with her family, attending sporting events, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include her husband Orville Grieme, Slayton, MN; three children: Gary Grieme, South St. Paul, MN, Mark Grieme and his wife Stacy, Wadena, MN and Gail Grieme, Monticello, MN; eight grandchildren: Nick, Laura, Alex and Dana, and Mike, Isaac, Daniel and Ayanna; and one sister Gloria Hanefeld, Windom, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law Gerald Hanefeld.

Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dawn Quame officiating. The organist was Pat Onken with special music by Heidi Winter. The pallbearers were her grandchildren. Interment is at Slayton City Cemetery in Slayton, MN.
