The snow melted for the winter and the Rebels were in full spring form when they took the field for the first time.  The Wabasso Rabbits came to town to take on MCC where the Rebels were ready and combined for a no-hitter to begin the 2019 campaign.

Despite giving up a walk to the leadoff batter, the Rebels’ starting pitcher Nate Everson came back and got a couple of groundouts along with a strikeout to get out of the first inning.  In the bottom of the first, Everson helped his cause by getting on base with a walk, before moving to second on a single from Kyler Deacon. After a strikeout, Justin Benda walked, which loaded the bases up for Matt Woldt.  During his at-bat, a passed ball got by Wabasso’s catcher that allowed Everson to score the first run for the Rebels.

After a scoreless second, the Rebels got right back to scoring on offense after holding off the Rabbits to no hits again in the top of the third.  The Rebels scored three more runs off walks and errors in the field that gave themselves a 4-0 lead through three innings of play.

In the top of the fourth inning, Spencer Wajer came into pitch and picked up right where Everson left off at.  He got a quick out on a looking strikeout before a groundout put two quick outs on the board. Despite a four-pitch walk, Wajer came right back to get a looking strikeout that finished the inning off and kept the no-hitter intact.
