The Rebels just had two match ups this past week where they played against conference opponents both times. Last Tuesday, the Rebels traveled to Edgerton to take on the Southwest Minnesota Christian Eagles before returning home on Thursday to take on the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots. Though the Rebels were down early in the match against the Eagles, they found a way to gain new momentum and it carried over into the match Thursday where they went on to sweep the week with wins in both matches.
Though the Rebels were down in the first couple sets against the Eagles, they fought hard all the way to the end. In the first set, both teams were neck and neck as the set went on. In the end, the Eagles held the slight edge with a 25-23 win.
Later, the Eagles gained a small run that gave them some room on the scoreboard. The Rebels did what they could to come back, but fell short, 25-18.
From that loss, a spark went onto MCC’s side and the momentum swung instantly. They used dominant offense along with smart plays on defense to cruise their way to a 25-15 win in the third set. That same momentum carried over to the fourth where a very similar game was played to secure another win, 25-16.
With a fifth set forced, the Rebels carried over that same momentum to build up a lead right away and never looked back. Even with the Rebels down 2-0 in the match, they came all the way back to defeat the Eagles in the fifth set, 15-6 to take the win.
