The Rebels hosted the Red Rock Central Falcons on Tuesday last week and started the match strong. However, the Falcons found a way to keep fighting and flew back to take down the Rebels in five sets.
The Rebels took control the first two sets and appeared as though they were on their way to a three-set sweep. The first set featured a comfortable lead by the Rebels where they held on to it for the remainder of the set. In the end, the Rebels claimed the first win of the match with a 25-18 victory. The Falcons came back a little bit in the second set, but the Rebels continued their dominant ways and finished the second set with a 25-21 victory.
The Falcons never gave up. They kept fighting and forced the Rebels to play extra serves in the third set to determine a winner. Both teams went back and forth for a while before the Falcons took the third set with a 31-29 win, which forced a fourth set.
In that fourth set, the Falcons kept their momentum strong and built a sizeable lead just like the Rebels did in the first set. MCC couldn’t make the comeback and a fifth set was forced with a 25-18 win for the Falcons. In the fifth set, the Rebels found a way to keep fighting where a team needed to win but too late in the set as well. Just like the third set, both teams went back and forth for a while before the Falcons claimed the final points again with a 19-17 win, which also won them the match, 3-2.
