Rebels boys earn runner-up Red Rock Conference honors; girls were third

Eight teams traveled to Mountain Lake last Thursday to compete in the Red Rock Conference track meet. Coming out on top was Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton High School tallying 147.5. The MCC boys fell shy of the title (114). The Eagles also finished first on the girls’ side (182) while Hills-Beaver Creek was the runner-up (136.5). The MCC girls came in third with 104.5 points.

Weather conditions proved to be perfect for several MCC competitors earning new personal or season records.

Justin Clarke once again made the four laps of the 1600 meter race in the first place spot and crossed the finish line at 5:06.28. Clarke went on to earn a third-place spot in the 3200-meter race with his time of 11:15.52. Freshman Maverick Beckmann was not far behind (11:30.22) for the fourth place ribbon.

Aaron Johnson earned a new season record with his 16.26 time in the 110-meter hurdles which was good enough for second place. Zach Aanenson earned a new personal record in the 110s with a time of 17.40.

Aanenson and Johnson combined for a second and third place finish in the 300-meter hurdle race with each earning new PRs in the event. Aanenson was .07 ahead of Johnson (44.09) with this time of 44.02. Aanenson also earned third in the pole vault (9’00”).

Tyler Winter earned second in the high jump by clearing the bar at 5’06”. Ethan Swanson leaped his way to the second place spot in the long jump (19’03”) and finished third in the triple jump (37’09”).
