Murray County Central’s golf team finished strong in Tuesday’s Red Rock Conference Meet. The girls team walked away with a sweet first place and the title “Conference Champ,” while the boys followed not far behind in third place. Head coach Kim DeLong was extremely proud of her team that day. Individually, MCC also had four golfers receive the honor of All Conference.
Abby Hamman started the day on hole 1, playing with the top girls golfers in the area. Shooting 48 out and 44 in, Hamman breezed through the day with 5 pars and a total score of 92. Hamman took the 2nd place individual medal for the day; following a tough 85 from 1st place medalist, Alexia Kemper of Adrian. Next in line for MCC was junior Martina Thunder Hawk, who tied for 8th place overall. Thunder Hawk shot her best round of the year; carding 53 out and 55 in. Amber Boock 110 and Vanessa Dahlgren 111 finished off MCC’s team score for a team total of 421, 8 stroke ahead of second place.
For the boys team Tyler Groves shot a solid round of 78, earning himself the individual medalist honors. Groves shot 37 out and 41 in, with one birdie and ten pars. Coming in next for MCC was Cole Ahlers who shot a total of 94 on the day, 46 out and 48 in. Ahlers tied for 8th place overall, earning himself All Conference honors. Jack Pierson brought in MCC’s third team score with a total of 96. Finishing out the fourth score was Dawson Tutt, who shot a 113. MCC’s team total for the day was a 381, just six strokes shy of 2nd place.
