It’s that time of year again when 4-Hers from around the state of Minnesota gear up to put the finishing touches on their entries and hope for a ribbon that will take them on to the State Fair. In Murray County, Rachel Bruxvoort, the daughter of Gary and Karen is one of the 4-Hers. Rachel graduated from Edgerton Public School this year; she doesn’t have much time left as a member of the Chandler Hilltoppers.
Not only is she an active member of the Chandler Hilltopper 4-H club, she was a member of the National Honor Society in school, a peer helper, took part in the school play and was a member of the volleyball team. She plans on furthering her education and will be attending Ridgewater College in Willmar in the fall in the Marketing and Sale Management program.
This marks the 10th year Rachel has been involved in 4-H. And, she remembers very clearly her first meetings and how excited she was to become a member. “I was so intrigued, and hoped someday I would be able to be an officer and lead meetings,” she said of those days ten years ago.
She has been involved in many projects over the years and she doesn’t recall each and every one, but she does remember those blue ribbons coming home and the Reserve Champion she received on her corn project.
