NYWA K-6 Team State Championships

The F/MCC Warriors wrestling team made its State Tournament debut in a match-up against the Lumberjacks from Bemidji.  Bemidji was a region champion and continued their winning ways with a 69-15 victory over the young warriors.  Picking up wins for F/MCC was Dane Hanson at 55#, Teague Meyer at 75#, and Lucas Kuball at 80#.

Next up for the Warriors on Saturday night was Chatfield.  Chatfield’s experience proved to be too much for the Warriors to handle as they breezed past them with a 62-12 victory.  Picking up wins for F/MCC was Kaston Clarke at 60#, Colby Kesteloot at 130#, and Owen Olsem at HWT.

With those two losses, the young men looked to close out the night with a victory over the Giants from LeSueur-Henderson.  The Giants had placed 4th in Region 2 back on March 16th when the Warriors placed 6th in the same region.  The Warriors were determined to pick up their first dual victory in Rochester and they weren’t going to let anyone stand in their way.

After dropping the first three matches of the dual, Luke Sweetman came up big for F/MCC with a 2-0 victory over Declan Cross.  Kaston Clarke would follow that up with a :47 Fall over Broxson Snow to bring the dual score to 11-9 in favor of the Giants.  LeSueur-Henderson took the momentum back, winning the next three matches.
