1944 – Norman Lee Grimmius – 2017
Norm Grimmius was born on October 12, 1944 on the family farm near Hadley, Minnesota to Ben and Josie Olivier Grimmius. He grew up on the farm and attended Slayton High School. Norm farmed with his father, Ben and his two brothers, Ronald and Marvin. In the early 1990’s Norm and Ronald purchased a farm south of Hadley. The two continued to farm until the mid 2000’s when they retired. Ronald passed away in 2007. Following Ronald’s death Norm became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton where he passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the age of 72. Norm really enjoyed his time at the Golden Living Center. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Slayton where he was active in the Men’s club. Norm enjoyed, playing bingo, watching T.V. especially westerns, and Wii bowling.
Survivors include his three siblings: Keith Grimmius, Norco, CA, Verla Bakke, and Verna Clark and her husband Jerry, one sister-in-law Marsha Grimmius all of Slayton, MN, and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Ronald and Marvin Grimmius.
Funeral services were held at Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Aaron Punt officiating with special music by Barb Breberg and Brittany Bereberg. The pallbearers were his family and friends. Interment is at Chandler Memorial Cemetery in Chandler, MN.
