It took a lot more than gray clouds and a rain shower to dampen the festivities in Lake Wilson this weekend. Chandler-Lake Wilson (C-LW) alumni from across the continent made there way to the first ever C-LW specific all school reunion.
On the heals of the twenty-fifth year anniversary of the EF5 tornado that cut through both towns and the surrounding countryside, former students and staff gathered to reminisce the good times.
The wrathful powers from the storms that scared the communities a quarter century ago may have brought an end to C-LW’s twenty years of existence, but it couldn’t erase the bonds of friendship forged by the tiny school.
A hand full of C-LW alumni and their family members decided to make the reunion a reality this past September. During the past year, dozens upon dozens of Facebook messages and photos were exchanged and a number of in person meetings were held.
As the date grew closer, the final details fell into place. Cooperation and coordination with the Lake Wilson Community Club is what really made the reunion reality possible. Reunion committee members worked closely with the Community Club. Lake Wilson Town and Country Days became the vehicle to link the C-LW reunion with. Resources and knowledge of putting on the weekend celebration were invaluable making the reunion a reality.
