The 2016 Murray County Draft Horse Show, July 9-10, features the cart, team, unicorn, 4 horse and 6 horse hitch classes. The draft horse competition is held at the Murray County Fairgrounds located in Slayton, Minnesota. You do not want to miss the fun!
What started out as just a group of southwestern Minnesota draft horse friends getting together to practice driving has developed into one of the largest draft horse shows in the Upper Midwest.
The weekend driving show opens its gates daily at 9 a.m. On July 9th, farm teams demonstrate horse-drawn equipment, offering the opportunity for many to explain past farming practices to new generations interested in learning about the slower pace of farming.
The two-day competition showcases the flashy performance side of the draft horse world. Competition begins July 9 at 2 p.m. and July 10 at 12:30 p.m. in the large show ring. More than 70 horses make up the six-horse hitches, representing the Belgian, Clydesdale, Percheron and Shire breeds.
