Murray County Central had an impressive showing at the State Speech meet in Wayzata, on Friday, April 12, with two students earning state medals and three team members receiving All-State recognition.
Megan Busman, who was making her third State appearance, placed fourth in the category of Great Speeches with her Stefani Germanotta speech. Many of you know the musician Stefani Germanotta by her stage name Lady Gaga. Busman’s speech involved writing commentary as well as delivering Germanotta’s Elle Women in Hollywood Acceptance Speech.
Cale Engelkes, also making his third State appearance, place second in Storytelling. After performing three other stories in preliminary rounds, Cale selected the story “Chicken Licken” from his final round draw. Cale depicted various feathered friends who helped Chicken Licken in a quest to tell the King that the sky was falling, or as Cale noted, the apocalypse was arriving.
Also competing at State Speech were Cole Ahlers in Discussion, Rylan Behnke in Discussion, and Alyssa Boynton in Extemporaneous Reading for her second state appearance.
