The production of one of the most the beloved movie and musicals will come alive on the Murray County Central’s auditorium stage this week with the production of “Meet Me in St. Louis”, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
The school’s musical promises to entertain and delight with lively action and favorite music, and a well-honed cast of characters. “There’s a lot of energy and it’s great fun,” Director Brenda Whitehead says of the group of young thespians who have been preparing for opening night for the last nine weeks. “This play has such a sense of family and a lot of little things that the kids laugh about,” she continues.
Whitehead, along with Assistant Director Isaac Harms and student Director Vanessa Herrig and a host of crew members, are putting the final touches on the production, with a dress rehearsal matinee on Wednesday and curtain calls at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The musical that is based on the 1944 movie by the same title spans the years of 1903 and 1904 and features the Smith family: mother Anna (Maggie Heezen) and father Alonzo (Rylan Behnke), their four daughters Rose (Rachel Siedschlag), Esther (Emily Kathman), Agnes (Courtney Tutt), Tootie (Josie Harms), and son Lon (Harley Hermia). Grandpa Prophater (Cale Engelkes), their maid Katie (Kelly Dahloff, heart throb Warren Sheffield (Jack Pierson), and the boy next door John Truett (Jeremy Thompson) round out the principal characters in the production.
