The MCC Rebel Boys had just one game the week before Christmas before getting nearly two weeks off. The Rebels wouldn’t have an easy matchup facing their 4th opponent in a row with not only a winning record but with just one loss. The Mountain Lake Area Wolverines were riding a five-game winning streak into their game with the Rebels on Thursday night and MCC was looking to pick up their 5th win of the season. The Rebels and the Wolverines went back and forth and with two evenly matched teams it came down to the end.

The first half of this game both teams showed off their defense as both teams struggled to score. Both teams closed out on shooters causing one contested shot after another. Both teams shot 30% from the field in the first half well below what one would expect from two teams above 500. The Wolverines were strong on the glass led by Drake Harder the 6’3” junior led Mountain Lake Area with 8 first-half points while collecting 9 rebounds five of which came on the offensive end. The Wolverines top scorer Marcus Boyd was held to just two points partially due to a pair of first-half fouls but the Rebels were also watching him closely. On the Rebels offensive end five players scored but only Nate Everson scored 5 points. MCC trailed at the half 20-17.
