The Rebels baseball team hit the road to face the Heron Lake – Okabena Wildcats on Thursday, April 13. Each team overtook the lead multiple times in the contest, but in the end, the Rebels used a late push to claim the victory over the Wildcats.
The Rebels started the scoring in the game in the top of the third inning with one run. Spencer Wajer lined a single to left field and moved into scoring position on an error in the field. A sacrifice bunt laid down by Nate Everson allowed Wajer to move to third base. During the next at bat, a wild pitch got by Wildcat’s catcher David Volk that allowed Wajer to plate MCC’s first run.
The Wildcats answered in the bottom of the third inning with three runs to take the lead from the Rebels. A couple of hits along with a couple of errors in the field set up the lead change, however, that lead didn’t last long for the Wildcats as the Rebels took it right back in the top of the fifth inning.
