1925 – Margaret Haberman – 2018
Margaret Haberman was born on January 6, 1925 in Slayton, Minnesota to Frank and Margreta Ebbinga Haberman. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Avoca, MN. Margaret attended country school and worked on the family farm. During World War II Margaret worked as a machine operator at a defense plant in Slayton making small parts that were shipped to other plants to be assembled. After the war Margaret moved to Marshall, MN and started working for the Atlantic Hotel. She later did cleaning for many different businesses in Marshall. Margaret was known for her seamstress work, which she did for many years. In 2010 Margaret moved to Avera Morning Heights Care Center in Marshall, MN where she passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the age of 93. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall. Margaret enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needlework. She will be remembered for always being very neat and friendly.
Survivors include one sister, Henrietta Grace Peterson of Clear Lake, IA, one brother, Ferd Haberman of Brandon, SD and several nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, three ½ brothers, Raymond Haberman, Paul Krier, Herman Haberman, two ½ sisters, Paulina “Lena” Stumm, and Elise Touhey, one sister-in-law, Elaine Haberman, and one nephew, Irvin Haberman.
Funeral services will be held at Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Keith Schreiner officiating. The pallbearers will be her family. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
