Lyla Dawn Ruppert was born August 9, 1923 in Tracy, Minnesota to Claud and Lyla (Bugher) Greenman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School in 1941 and then worked at Solar Aircraft from 1941-1944 in San Diego, California. Dawn was united in marriage to Theodore Ruppert on February 21, 1944. They farmed near Garvin, Minnesota for six years, moved to Walnut Grove, Minnesota and farmed there for two years. They then moved to a farm north of Garvin and lived there until they bought their farm near Tyler, Minnesota in 1960. Ted and Dawn moved to town in 1984. She worked at Hope Mutual Insurance and the Allen Svendsen Insurance Agency for a few years. Dawn became a member of the Third Order of Carmelites in 1959, was a member of the CCW at St. Dionysius and the Shoenstatt Study Club. Dawn Ruppert, age 93, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home in Tyler. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, fancy work of all kinds, gardening and card playing.

Dawn is survived by her children: Brian (Trisha), Helena, Montana and Thomas (Kathy), Tyler; four grandchildren: Kristopher, Benjamin, Brad and Barb; five great-grandchildren: Benjamin Jr., Trevor, Creed, Ryker and Kylie Dawn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Theodore; daughter Ann Marie; and sibings: Marvel March and Madeline “Bertie” Colburn.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. Visitation continues one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
