1960 – Lori Dierks – 2019
Lori Dierks was born on March 3, 1960 in Slayton, Minnesota to Richard and Mary Ann Biegler Martens. She grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1978. On September 5, 1987, she and Dale Dierks were married at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton. Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton and Lori worked at Finley Engineering, Master Tank and later at the Murray County Court House. In 1993, Lori became a first-time mother to her son, Josh and later in 1998, became a full-time mother to her son, Nick. Lori loved being able to stay at home with her boys as they grew up. Lori moved to the Pipestone County Hospice Home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, and passed away there on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the age of 58. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton. Lori enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors, gardening, animals of all kinds, and riding around on her 4-wheeler. She will be remembered for her kind heart and her love for her family.
Survivors include her husband Dale Dierks, Slayton MN; two sons: Josh Dierks, Renville MN and Nick Dierks, Slayton MN; her mother Mary Ann Martens of Slayton MN, her brother Rick Martens and his wife Ruth, Slayton MN and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Martens.
Memorial services were held at St. Mary’s Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. Rick Colletti officiating. The organist was Kathy Mitchell. The song leader was Sheila Crowley. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery in Lake Wilson, MN. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton was entrusted with arrangements.
