Life as Pioneers

Murray County Central second grade students have been studying the life of pioneers over the past few weeks.

They have read about Laura Ingalls Wilder’s travels through her stories.

As a culmination to this learning unit, the students were treated to a day of activities much like the pioneer’s daily duties may have included.

To start the journey the classes visited the Murray County Historical Museum where Margaret Kluis shared information about the Wornson Cabin and how the family may have lived their daily life there. Students learned how they heated the cabin and cooked with wood as well as warming water for their bathing.
