The MCC Rebel Girls wrapped up their regular season on Monday night. The Rebels were happy to be back at home to play the Wolverines of Mountain Lake Area. The Rebels and the Wolverines played a hard fought game earlier this season in Mountain Lake where the Rebels came up on the short end of the stick. The Rebels and the Wolverines both came off losses to Westbrook-Walnut Grove last week. The Rebels started the game strong, finish it strong and in the middle well it wasn’t pretty. The Rebels would finish its regular season with a bit of excitement.

It was a tail of the good, the bad, and the thrilling on Monday nights. The Rebels were on fire in the first eight minutes scoring the first ten points of the game. Katlyn Knakmuhs scored the Rebels first two points and she was helped by Rachel Van Iperen and Riley Schmitz. The trio of Rebels combined for 12 points each scoring four points. MCC pulled ahead 14 to 2 and everything was going the Rebels way. It quickly changed from the good to the bad. Mountain Lake began to pick away at the Rebels double digit lead. Jewel Sutthivong and Margo Stoesz combined for 13 points as the Wolverines relied on the duo of wing players to run the offense. As the half moved past the ten minutes mark the Rebels forgot how to score and the Rebels began to give up their lead. The Rebels went almost ten minutes before they scored again. The Wolverines went from trailing by 12 points to up 9 points. The Rebels cut into that lead in the final minutes when Mariah Beckmann scored four straight points as MCC would go into the half down 23-18.
