After a thrilling win against the Heron Lake-Okabena Wildcats, the Rebels volleyball team moved on in post season play to take on the number two seeded, Windom Area Eagles. Both teams made their way down to Worthington to play against each other with the chance to move on. However, the Eagles had the momentum late in the first set and didn’t look back as they ended MCC’s season with a 3-0 sweep.
The Rebels had everything going for them in the first set and looked as though they were on their way to taking the first set with comfort. The Eagles got out to a quick 2-0 lead before a five-point run by the Rebels put them up 5-2. The Rebels kept that pace going as they quickly went up 9-4 that forced Windom to take a timeout. Though the timeout slowed the game down, the Rebels picked right back up from where they left off. They stormed up to a 14-5 lead before the Eagles got a point back. From there, MCC continued to put points on the board and at one point, they held a 10-point lead with a 20-10 score.
However, the Eagles found a way to make their comeback. Once the 21st point of the match was scored for the Rebels, the Eagles went on a nine-point run that eventually tied the set at 21 points. The teams went back and forth for the final few points of the set and forced extra play to determine the winner. In the end, the Eagles completed their comeback from down 10 points at one time to win the first set, 27-25 over the Rebels.
