The MCC Rebel girls began the season with a tough win over the Windom Area Eagles but followed that up with a pair of losses at home to Canby and on the road at Lakeview. The Rebels were competitive in each of the three games and could have easily come away with a win over Canby. They got into conference play this past week with games Tuesday night against Mountain Lake Area and Friday at Southwest Minnesota Christian. MCC Tuesday’s night would get off to a great start in the first half much like they did against Windom and they had similar results.

The Rebels clamped down on the Wolverines early in the game and however did not start quickly on offense but they did score. They built a 12-0 lead before the Wovlerines scored. Shelby Christensen led the Rebels early with nine points in the first half. Her aggressive play sparked the Rebels and then it was Montana Beckmann scoring seven points in the first half. Rachel Van Iperen scored four first half points but it was her rebounding inside that gave the Rebels a big edge.

Margo Stoez led the Wolverines scoring six of the teams first eight points. The Rebels went into the half with a 26-8 lead.

MCC and MLA exchanged baskets over the first seven minutes in the second half with the Rebels maintaining a 36 to 17 lead. That is when the  Wolverines began their comeback bid.
