Singer/Songwriter Kat Perkins will return to Murray County Central on Saturday, December 9th. Perkins will perform her ‘Home for the Holidays’ concert at the Murray County Central auditorium 7:30 p.m.
Perkins grew up a daughter of a music teacher and has been performing as long as she can remember. She grew up in a small town in North Dakota and immediately upon graduation packed her bags and headed to the Twin Cities to make a name for herself.
Perkins began to carve a name for herself both in music as well as theatre – often sharing the stage with performers such as Guns and Roses, Bon Jovi, etc. She worked hard and achieved great heights. However a vocal fold cyst put a stop on the promising career and forced Perkins to re-think her future.
Unable to sing, Perkins fortitude led her in a different direction. Perkin’s second passion was kids, so she began working as a nanny. After two years, her voice began to heal and she once again was able to sing. She volunteered to do a tour for members of the United States Military in the Middle East. During a layover in the middle of the night in the Amsterdam airport, Perkins began to sing Adele’s “Some Like You”. The video made its way online, going viral, and gaining the attention of the producers of NBC’s The Voice, who requested she come on the hit TV show.
