Riding horse is just second nature to Hadley native Macy Posthuma. She’s been on the back of a horse since a toddler and now rides pretty much daily.
Posthuma spends her summers – particularly the weekend attending horse shows where she competes as part of the MSPCA. The love of this four-legged creature has created several opportunities.
Trainer Lita Hotel, of Rochester, suggested Posthuma make the trip south to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the annual Pinto World Championship Horse Show. The show, at Tulsa’s Expo Square, is witness to the largest gathering of Pinto horses, ponies and miniatures on earth. Exhibitors compete in a wide range of discipline including Western, English, driving, pleasure, halter, roping, speed events and trial. Annually the event hosts over 1,300 Pintos and more than 2,000 exhibitors for over 40 states and four countries, including Canada, Sweden, Denmark and Australia.
“This was my second big breed show and it truly was an experience,” shared Posthuma. Her first was the Minnesota Pinto Show in Winona last year.
Macy, her father, Paul, and mom, Stacy, began their journey on June 9th and returned June 23rd. They, along with another of Hotel’s clients were able to rent a house nearby the arena. While Paul returned back to their Hadley farm, Macy and her mom remained for the two-week show.
