Jottings by Jerry – September 11

Rain covered our corner of the world mostly delivering over an inch by Monday night, with the promise of more to come. There was little left to run off but the ground cracks are closed for now.

I had the chance to visit with old friends this past weekend. Always a good time.

The hard part of the weekend was cleaning up some of the messes of my own making. There were partial successes. Some are projects in progress which are difficult to clean up and that seems logical to me. Management has a different opinion of the potential problem and my inadequate approach to conquering it. She explained her view and that’s the way it was. But the weekend was good.

The early hunting season is in progress and there are some successful waterfowl hunts for the youth. Fall is a great season all the way through deer season the first part of November. Longer would always be better.

This Friday is the thirteenth and the full moon will occur at 11:32 p.m. It should be a great time. If you are a little squeamish keep your head under the covers.

A mother-in-law visits her son-in-law before leaving for a trip. They are sipping coffee and chatting. Suddenly, the mother-in-law looks at the clock and jumps off her chair exclaiming, “It’s already 3 pm! I’m about to miss my train!”

She begins to put her coat on in a hurry. At this moment the son-in-law’s six-year-old daughter runs up to her and before her dad can do anything, she says, “Don’t hurry Granny, Daddy set the clock two hours ahead.”
