Jottings by Jerry – October 9

It’s been a nice week but by Thursday we will be looking at our first freeze for the season, gone are the fresh homegrown tomatoes, the fresh flowers and the green grass without the leaves to bury it. Cold rain and the threat of snow is our near future. I have a lot of flowers that need some attention and a warm winter home and I love sharing them with each of the offices. Each of the offices loves watering and picking up the dead leaves that occasionally drop on the floor. I sell them on the idea of the fresh oxygen produced for their benefit is a plus. It’s just for that short season that we call Winter. But it is time to dig, prune and prepare for the winter. There will be a few more warm days, but for now, it’s time to prepare the plants for the dormant season.

The Minnesota Twins have been getting mauled by New York both there and at home. I was hoping for a better showing.

There has been a lot of man hours going into the Fulda Depot with scraping and now the painting. The primer coat, a yellow-tan you may notice, is different from the past. The old grey with maroon trim will be gone and will be replaced with an orange color with reddish maroon trim. It will be a snappy change of pace that does have some historical background. Feel free to make your own thoughts known.

The teacher noticed that Little Johnny had arrived at school wearing only one glove.

“Why have you only got one glove?” she asked.

“Well, Miss,” explained Little Johnny, “I was watching the weather forecast on TV last night, and it said it was going to be quite sunny but on the other hand it could get quite cold.”
