Jottings by Jerry – October 16

Last weekend we had our first snowfall. Depending where you live in the area you might have had up to an inch. It is gone now but the recent memory has set the mood for the season, The next few days will be really good but we could be wet again this weekend. Most of my plants were saved from near death, except for the easy annuals. They were sacrificed to the king of frost. Leaves will start dropping with a vengeance of the change of the season. The color variety has been a joy for the mind.

The harvest had a real rush last week before the weather came in. Two good days saw a lot of beans come out, but still, a lot of them remain, maybe this week will have a few good days also. Frustration has been a constant companion to growers from the wet spring through today’s wet fall. The impact in the area will be felt by everyone.

I will get my stitches out Tuesday and will have better use of my hand. This is the second carpal tunnel for my left arm plus some nerve relief for some knuckles. I will again be up to my usual ability and standard when playing the piano. No concerts are planned.

The Vikings made us proud on Sunday. They started out with a bang and this time kept producing touchdowns. It was a fan booster.
