Jottings by Jerry – May 15

The warm weather is nice for a change but the weekend holds rain again. It’s a difficult time for farmers and will be a late planting. It seems like it’s never going to work out but it will, maybe not perfectly.

Mother’s Day worked well, there was some presents, good food and proper love with understanding, appreciation of their sacrifices. It was a good day.

The Heritage Society planted daylilies at Memorial Beach on the hillside. It was a truckload of plants and there is a need of more. We can use more hostas and daylilies in the veterans park. There are people available to split your plants if you want and/or pick them up. The goal is to make the park more inviting and appealing.

The mowing season has started and will be in full swing shortly. It’s fun starting off the season but the fun dwindles as it warms to hot. Here we are complaining about the hot before it happens. We may as well mention mosquitoes, ticks, and things that go bump in the night. It will be fine, enjoy it.

When my wife and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.

We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.

As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.

‘Hey,’ I announced to the technician, ‘its open!’

His reply, ‘I know. I already did that side.’
