Jottings by Jerry – July 26

Summer is steadily advancing and the county fairs will soon be here. August will be a fast month. It’s a great time of the year with gardens offering corn, beans, tomatoes, beets and those great new potatoes. A small garden will not feed you all winter but it will make you appreciate the freshness of the season. We have the bounty for a brief period of time. Yes, we have the ability to freeze it, can it, dry it or eating as much and often as you can but it is a short season. The size of your garden can fit your needs. The county fair is a great place to compare your produce to the ribbon winners

A tightwad was convinced by a friend to buy a couple of lottery tickets. But after he won the big prize he didn’t seem happy.

“What’s wrong?” the friend asked. “You just became a millionaire!”

“I know,” he groaned, “but I can’t imagine why I bought that second ticket!”

My husband was driving home from work when he was pulled over for not wearing his seat belt.

Two days later – same ticket, same cop.

“So,” the officer said, “have you learned anything?”

“Yes, I have,” said my husband. “I’ve learned I need to take a different way home from work.”

“Politics wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the fact that it attracts so many politicians.”
