Coaches vs. Cancer
We all know someone who is in the fight of their lives: the fight against cancer. Will you join us in the fight? On Friday night, March 10, the staff of MCC will take on the students in a “competitive” game of basketball at our Coaches vs. Cancer event. The score may matter to some but the real reason for this event is to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The MCC Rebel Card students will provide a “Whopper Feed” supper from 4:30 to 7:00 in the MCC Wrestling room. Cost of the meal is $6.00 ($4 for a single Whopper) and all proceeds will be donated to our total collection. There will also be a limited number of fish sandwiches available for those who are observing no meat on Fridays during Lent.
Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. in the MCC high school gym. A free will offering will be taken at the doors. Twenty-four MC staff members have stepped up to form a team, while 30 students who are non-basketball players will make up the student team.
Fans in the stands will be encouraged to support their favorite team not only by cheering them on, but also by adding to their score. During the game a bucket for each team will be circulated throughout the crowd. For each dollar put in a team’s bucket, one point will be added to the score! Once the final buzzer sounds, the totals will be announced to determine the winning score.
On hand for the evening will be the MCC pep band, and they will be joined by members of the Slayton Community Band! There will be a “special” group of staff cheerleaders.
