1954 – Jeffrey “Jeff” Anthony Bonnstetter – 2017
Jeff Bonnstetter was born on July 11, 1954 in Algona, Iowa to Anton “Tony” and Sophie Norvellis Bonnstetter. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Slayton High School in 1973. Following high school Jeff farmed with his father and brothers. On June 26, 1977 he and Rhonda Bartels were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they farmed northwest of Slayton, Minnesota where they raised their four children. Jeff passed away unexpectedly at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the age of 62. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton where he served as an usher. Jeff served on the Lowville Township Board for many years and was a member of the Murray County Pork Producers. Jeff and Rhonda enjoyed taking road trips with friends. Jeff looked forward to anytime he could spend with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Rhonda Bonnstetter, Slayton, MN; four children and their spouses: Janelle and Curt Anderson, Lexington, MN, Kristin and Chris Luna, Omaha, NE, Joshua and Ashley Bonnstetter, Slayton, MN, Danielle and Nicholas Spronk, Fessenden, ND; 14 grandchildren: Luke and Natasha Timko and Dylan Anderson, Abriel Bonnstetter, Reece Luna, Haley Luna, and Paige and Taylor Bailey, Alaina, Merryck and Brielle Bonnstetter, Jonah, Owen, Opal and Esther Spronk; one great-granddaughter; four siblings and their spouses: Russell and Jean Bonnstetter, Donna and Keith Johnson, Barbara “Barb” and Paul Nepp all of Slayton, MN, and Anthony “Tony” and Susan Bonnstetter, Hadley, MN; one sister-in-law Julie Bonnstetter, Slayton, MN and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Larry Bonnstetter.
Memorial services are today, Wednesday, May 10, 2017, St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating. The pianist is Ruth Bonnstetter. The song leader is Sheila Crowley with special music by his daughters, Janelle Anderson and Danielle Sponk. The honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren. Interment is at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN.
