Amy Byro and Makenzie Wagner will be leading the extension activities throughout the summer.
Byro will serve as the 4-H PC Interim replacing Margie Anderson while Wagner will be her assistant.
Byro graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a degree in Recreation, Park, and Leisure services, with an emphasis on Leadership Management Planning and a certificate in nonprofit leadership. She has worked with youth through the Mankato Community Education and Recreation as an on-site supervisor and designed hands-on program activities at the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota. While at MSU, Byro also served as a Teaching Assistant within her program.
While Byro herself, has never been a part of 4-H, her experience as a Girl Scout as well as FFA, will definitely lend a hand in helping children in 4-H.
Byro began her duties on Monday, June 4th. Byro says her new position has started out well. “I’ve got a lot to absorb,” she says when talking about her duties. Byro has jumped right in and began the summer program this past Wednesday. “I was very excited to meet a lot of kids,” she explained. On Thursday the livestock quality assurance session was held. Byro is very appreciative of the wonderful staff. “I’m new to 4-H in general and it’s been a learning experience,” she says. Part of the learning curve is memorizing the pledge and motto. “If the kids need to have it memorized, then I feel it’s only right that I do as well.”
