Haleigh Ortmeier-Clarke to serve on National Student Advisory Team

Kansas City, Missouri – Haleigh Ortmeier-Clarke Slayton, Minnesota, is motivated and determined to make a positive impact on the world. As a junior at the University of Minnesota studying plant science, she is off to a good start.

From internships to collegiate experiences, Ortmeier-Clarke pursues experiences that set her apart from her peers and prepare her to pursue a career in agriculture and food. Most recently, she was selected for the Agriculture Future of America Student Advisory Team.

AFA provides personal and professional development experiences for college students and young professionals in food and agriculture. Providing leader development, intern support, and scholarships, AFA seeks to be a catalyst in the preparation of a new generation of agriculture leaders. Ortmeier-Clarke and her fellow team members serve as ambassadors between AFA and their college campuses and AFA’s corporate partners.

“Agriculture Future of America gave me the confidence to step out as a young leader within agriculture. Through AFA I have been able to build a solid network of connections within the agricultural industry that will benefit me for the rest of my life,” she said.

Ortmeier-Clarke and the other nine team members were selected through a competitive application process to serve as AFA’s student voice and represent their peers on a national level. Ortmeier-Clarke says she is looking forward to her experiences with the team.
