Groves wins third individual conference title; Boys and girls earn conference title

Tyler Groves, MCC, won his third Red Rock Conference boys golf individual title last Wednesday afternoon at the GreatLIFE Worthington golf course. Winning titles has become quite common for Groves. he took home the boys title by a full six strokes over his nearest competitor – teammate, Jack Pierson.

The sunny, warm and calm day provided the perfect day. Groves carded rounds of 39 and 36 to tally 75.

Junior Jack Pierson came in with rounds of 42 and 39 to finish the day with an 81.

Cole Ahlers, also a junior, stroked an 87 with rounds of 48 and 39.

Dawson Tutt, freshman, shot a 104 with equal rounds of 52 each.

The boys team topped Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda by a full 17 strokes carding a 347 as a whole for the Red Rock Conference title.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove had 372, Adrian 390, Southwest Christian/Edgerton 392, Hills-Beaver Creek 405, Red Rock Central 423 and Mountain Lake 457.

MCC was able to place three golfers in the boys all conference line up with Groves – 1st, Pierson – 2nd, and Ahlers – 3rd. The top ten golfers pick up all conference honors.
