Both the boys and girls teams earned the right to compete at the state level. They left Slayton on Sunday, June 10th for Becker, Minnesota which is the site of the state two-day golf tournament for Class A. The teams enjoyed a golf banquet on Sunday evening. Tyler Groves was awarded the Academic All-State Award for Section 3A. To receive this award, a senior must have a 3.75+ GPA or higher and play in the first round of the section tournament.

Abby Hamman, Tyler Groves, and Jack Pierson were selected for the Class A All-State Teams. Coaches enter weekly scoring averages using the low four of the last six 18-hole rounds on the MN Golf Coaches Association website. An individual’s score for rating purposes is based on the USGA/MGA course rating of the course played and the score actually shot.

Monday’s practice round was cut short due to rain. Tuesday’s competition began at 7:30 a.m. with Kylie Frisk teeing off on the red tee box. She was followed by Vanessa Dahlgren, then Paige Behrends, Amber Boock, Ciera Tutt, and finally Abby Hamman at 8:15 to conclude the MCC team. The day proved to be warm with temps nearing 90 degrees which when golfing 18 holes makes for a long day in the sun and heat.

Kylie Frisk, a freshman, came in with 60 on her first nine holes and finished the last nine with a 63 tallying a 123 for day one of the tournament.
