The Fulda/MCC Warrior wrestlers traveled to Canby last weekend to join in the gathering of the section 3A wrestling tournament where every wrestler of every weight in the section collectively gather to find where they stand in the section and hopefully find a state tournament berth by placing in the top two. The Warrior wrestlers may not have had anyone place in the top two and earn a state tournament trip, but we did have quite a nice showing by our wrestlers and we had two shows on the podium Keigen Behnke placed 4th at 182# and Christian Kuball placed 5th at 170#.
The first win Friday night came as Carson Klein took on Wabasso-Red Rock Centrals Junior Aubrey Mathiowetz. Aubrey was a tough competitor but just couldn’t escape the strong grasp of Carson as he took her to the mat and held on for the pin at 1:38. Carson Is a super tough dedicated 7th-grade wrestler every time he walks out on the mat no matter who its against he thinks he can win. Heres to looking forward to 5 more years with Carson.
Our second win came on Friday night with senior Kadin Kuehl when he took on Jackson Miest of St. James. Kadin took Jackson down early in the first period and took 1 minute and 38 seconds to secure a honeymooner on Jackson and hold him for the pin. Kadin later would fall to Payton Handevidt of Jackson County Central, moving him to the consolation bracket where he would take on Sawyer Otto and here Kadin left it all on the mat as he took Sawyer Otto of TMB/WWG for a ride scoring 12 points in the 1st period only giving up two on a reversal. In the Second period, Kadin gave up an early takedown to Sawyer only to gain a reversal and collect near falls for the Technical fall at the last second (20-4). Kadin’s’ last match of the tournament and his career came with heroic fashion as he wrestled Joe Anderson of Springfield. Kadin was able to roll out of every move Joe Anderson threw at him as he accumulated 6 points, 2 reversals, and a near fall, to Joes’ 9 points in the first period. In the second period, Joe came out like a bullet and caught Kadin for the fall at 3:33. Kadin was a well-needed addition to the program this year as we saw him travel through the season as a senior we’ll miss him and his hard work and dedication to the program.
