The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Falcons came to Slayton last Tuesday to face the Rebels one more time before the season drew closer to the end.  The Falcons jumped out to an early lead and didn’t let up against MCC as they cruised on to win comfortably, 9-2.

The Falcons jumped to the early lead in the top of the first inning when they took advantage of walks issued along with using small ball techniques.  A walk issued to Taylor Bunting put him on first and he moved to second on an error in the field.  Later, Bunting moved to third when a groundball cut down Austin Irlbeck at second for the first out of the inning.  Another walk loaded the bases up before a single brought home two runs in favor of the Falcons.  The third run of the inning was tallied off a ground ball out later in the inning.

After a quick bottom of the first inning, the Falcons added another run in the top of the second, bringing their game total to four runs.  MCC couldn’t answer that run in the bottom of the second as another quick 1-2-3 inning sent them back onto the field.  Following a scoreless third inning, the Falcons pounded three more runs against the Rebels, giving them a comfortable 7-0 lead through four innings.
