Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. Based on the 1954 classic film which is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year and the Murray County Central Drama Department is bringing it to Slayton.

The musical follows Bob Wallace (Rylan Behnke) and Phil Davis (Blake Schmitz), two former WWII servicemen with a successful song-and-dance act, as they travel with a duo of beautiful singing sisters (Josie and Symone Harms) to a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander (Maverick Beckmann). Hearing that their former General’s ski lodge is on the brink of closure, the performers attempt to save the lodge with an all-singing, all-dancing spectacular.

Director Isaac Harms and Brenda Whitehead are very excited to bring White Christmas to the stage at Murray County Central. Harms commented, “We just decided Christmas was fun and something we hadn’t done before. It fit the students that we had along with the size of the group.”  “And, he said, “It just has fun music and would keep the audience engaged.”

In the opening scene, the crowd will enjoy songs such as ‘Happy Holidays’ and ‘White Christmas’.
