Once in Rome, the group met up with their bus tour guide and began to explore the ancient city. However, they quickly learned that driving in a European city was not an easy task.
By: Hannah Davis Murray County News Staffwriter A few weeks ago, an adventurous group of high school students and adult chaperones from Slayton said “arrivederci” to Minnesota and “ciao” to Italy as they set off on a Culture Club trip. Nearly two years worth of preparing and fundraising was put towards the tour that would take them through major historical landmarks in both Italy and Greece. The group of travelers, which consisted of seven students and eight adult chaperones, was led by MCC teacher and Culture Club leader April Johnson. Joining the Culture Club on the trip was newly retired MCC Social Studies teacher Tarry Boelter and his wife, Sally. Being that the troop of travelers had been planning their tour of Greece and Italy for over a year, they were substantially excited to finally see the places they’d picked for their itinerary. After leaving from the Minneapolis airport, the group had twelve hours worth of flying ahead of them and one layover in Charlotte, North Carolina.
