Juniper Street project start date on hold
By: Rebecca Hudson Murray County News Staffwriter

With plans in place and construction set to begin on the Juniper Avenue street improvement project, there may be a hold up in the start date.   Slayton City Clerk Josh Malchow reported to city council members Monday night that Thorstad Companies, contractor for the project, is unable to begin work on the street until sometime in August.

The contract requires that the water portion of the project be completed before September 2, with the remainder of road work be substantially completed by September 10.  "It is absolutely necessary that the water be completed before Labor Day and before school starts," Malchow said.  He added that the contract prohibits work on the water lines during fair time as well.
