Mass of Christian Burial for Vaughn Lingen, of Tyler, Minnesota was held on Tuesday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock, Minnesota.

Vaughn Alfred Lingen was born February 18, 1932 to Alfred and Rose (McLain) Lingen at Currie, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed within the Catholic Church. He attended country school and later graduated from Ruthton High School in 1950. Vaughn enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in San Francisco, California, served as a cook, attained the rank of sergeant, and was honorably discharged in 1955. He returned to southwest Minnesota and on January 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to Bessie (Scotting) Lingen at St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with seven children and 56 years of marriage together. The couple raised their family and dairy farmed in the Ruthton and Holland area. Vaughn retired from farming in 2006 at which time they moved to Tyler, Minnesota. Vaughn passed away with his family by his side on June 6, 2014 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 82 years. Vaughn was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock and the American Legion of Holland. He enjoyed having coffee with the group at the mini-mart in Ruthton for many years and the guys at Knudsen's Amoco in Tyler. He also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and Yahtzee with family. Gardening was his favorite pastime and he loved giving away produce to family and friends. He was very proud of his lawn and flowers. Above all, he adored all his family and especially enjoyed the holidays and special occasions spent with them.

Vaughn will be lovingly remembered by his wife Bess, Tyler; his seven children: Pat (and Trudy) Lingen, Edgerton, Minnesota, Penny (and Karl) Veitch, Longmont, Colorado, Tim (and Amie) Lingen, Lake Benton, Minnesota, Randy (and Denice) Lingen, Balaton, Minnesota, Janelle (and Ron) Einck, Iona, Minnesota, Rick (and Barb) Lingen, Woodstock, Minnesota, and Greg (and Tammy) Lingen, Luverne, Minnesota; 25 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings: Peg Splett, Plymouth, Minnesota, Raymond (and Karen) Lingen,f Holland, Minnesota, Richard (and Stella) Lingen, Jasper, Minnesota, Avis (and Anthony) Laurent, Hamel, Minnesota, and Roger Lingen, Buffalo, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Eileen, John, David, Philip, Kathryn, and Terry Lingen; and grandsonJared Lingen. Blessed be his memory.

Mass of Christian Burial for Vaughn Lingen, of Tyler, Minnesota was held on Tuesday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock, Minnesota. Interment will be at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock. Arrangements were provided by Hartquist Funeral Home in Tyler.
