Ag Commissioner Frederickson encourages comment regarding proposed Renewable Fuel Standards

January 15, 2014

EPA proposals would have impacts on biofuels industries
Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson visited the Minnesota Soybean Processors (MnSP) plant near Brewster on Tuesday, January 7, to hear comments and information about the Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS) proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA proposal is for a limit of 1.28 billion gallons of biodiesel production in 2014 and 2015, down from an estimated 1.7-2 billion gallons produced in 2013.

Frederickson encouraged public comments to be sent to the EPA, commenting on docket EPA-HQ-OAR-2013-0479, the proposed changes. Comments will be taken by the EPA until January 28. (This is not postmark date, comments need to be there by January 28.)

Frederickson indicated that many Midwestern Governors are working together to show the impacts of the proposed RFS on local economies.
