The Section 3A Cross Country meet was held last week in Adrian where the Rebels competed for their chance to go to the state meet. For most of the Rebels, their season came to an end Thursday, but for senior Andy Garza, his season moves on as he punched his ticket to state.

Sixteen girls teams lined up at the starting grid, along with a couple teams who raced individually due to not having enough runners to complete a team. The Rebels were one of those teams since Sariah Cheadle was out with a leg injury. The four others ran well for their last race of the season, and for Melissa Gehl, Maddy Dibble, and Breanna Breberg, it was their last race of their cross country careers.

At the start of the race, over 100 girls raced down the first hill with Adrianís Nicole Slater leading the charge. As the race went on, Slater held the lead, however, Luverneís Madison Schandelmeier was right there next to her.
